Tennessee's A-F School Letter Grade System assigns each public school a letter grade (A through F) to help parents and communities easily understand how schools are performing.
Established by T.C.A. § 49-1-228 in 2016, the system was created with three key goals:
Median score for TN schools: 3.2 (C)
Schools receive an indicator score of 1-5 for each category. Each score is multiplied by grade-band weight to determine the final letter grade.
